If you want to be a successful, confident and powerful woman, you need confidence and a successful mindset to support you. This post is a call for courage, to all the change makers who are holding themselves back.

You want to be a successful and fulfilled woman. A woman who can make the kind of difference you want to make in the world. And you may stand there and wondering what it takes to be successful and if you have it.

Well, if you want to make an impact in the world through a business, a career or any form of personal expression, there are couple of obstacles you can reasonably expect to face. It doesn’t mean that you don’t have what it takes. It’s just what it is and if you are prepared you can overcome these obstacles with some mindset work.

This is where you are: you’ve decided to go big with your ambitions and something happens. All those fears, the low self-confidence, the self-doubts and the perfectionism you pushed back for all this time, suddenly show up and prevent (protect) you from achieving what you want.  Some people call them self-sabotaging behaviours. I call them fear of success, because these feelings are actually there to protect you from the imagined consequences of your success. You may experience them as paralysing fears, negative self-talk, anxiety, procrastination and rationalising. So you feel not good enough, you experience a low sense of entitlement, you feel like a fraud.

You are experiencing some mindset blocks. They prevent you from getting concretely where you want to be, no matter how hard you work. They prevent you from daring, growing your confidence and taking yourself and your ambitions seriously.

And they aren’t a lack of competence. If  they were, you’d have already addressed them. You’d had found the right teacher, training or book to get over them. Competence and experience are pretty easy to get: they’re just a matter of logistic. But what’s holding you back is a lot deeper than that. It’s low self-confidence and an unsupportive mindset that will keep bottlenecking, unless you decide to do something about it. If you are ready to do something, grab your notebook and start answering these questions:

  • When you think about achieving your goals and being successful, what fears come up for you?
  • What will happen if you achieve these goals?
  • Is there something you have to do to achieve these goals that scares you? What is it?
  • What is the worst case scenario that keeps you from moving forward?
  • What needs to be put in place to make you feel ready to move forward?
  • Are you afraid of people being resentful to you, if you are successful?

Now you should already have some clarity about what is blocking you and awareness is always the first step for change.

Whether you are a woman in business or in a career, you need to put yourself (or your skills, your offer) forward if you want to achieve your goals, influence and lead. You need to be visible, to have an audience, to talk about your message, about why it matters and why it should matter to others.

It takes work and courage, and this is why only ambitious women get there. Facing your fears and blocks is the first step to move forward, one step after the other, toward your professional success and the fulfilment, freedom and independence that comes with it. And this is what I want for you.
